Designing a unique interior

Furnishing a log home is very different to furnishing a conventional home. Log homes have a different scale; bigger! The log elements demand furniture, fittings, patterns and even detail, big enough to not be dwarfed by the wood structures.

Here are a few things to consider:

Natural materials other than wood compliment a log home. Leather, Stone, Linen and Wool all make a log home feel warm and inviting.

Don't be too quick to put wooden furniture in your log home, unless it is big enough and contrasts in grain and colour.
Log homes usually have a fantastic amount of light filtering through them. This is great for the daytime but try not to forget the evening when the natural light has gone. A clever use of lighting can achieve dramatic effects. The unconventional nature of log homes means that both traditional and modern looks can work.

Above all your log home should be comfortable.

Whether starting from scratch or incorporating furniture from your conventional home, stick to the size rule and try to create interesting blends of materials and textures.
