“The beautiful valleys of Mid Wales were the perfect setting for an exclusive Shooting Lodge“
A Shooting Lodge for Three Valleys
Mr Robert Jones, the proprietor of a highly successful commercial pheasant shoot, had approached several log cabin companies to supply a relatively simple cabin layout for the purpose of a shooting lodge. The lodge would include toilet and shower facilities, a kitchen and large dining area and of course, a bar close to the log burning stove.
Mr Robert Jones explained: “I saw Rural Accommodations at several country shows. They had a range of chalets and log cabins on display and a comprehensive portfolio of projects undertaken in this country. I was encouraged with the confidence of the staff and I knew that they could supply exactly what I wanted. I had to visit the stand three times due to the volume of interest shown by other visitors“.
The project started in November, slightly delayed by the usual planning issues. It had rained for weeks, the ground and surrounding fields where in flood and the build area was an entire mud bath.
The Rural Accommodations “Build Team“ lived on site in caravans without mains electricity or running water. We used generators for power and water was brought from a neighbouring farm. During the night ninety miles per hour gusts of wind battered the caravans. Days had become very short and nights far too long, mobile phones did not operate (although this was not a bad thing), but neither did the television or radio.
The site was nicknamed "The Valley from Hell". The rain never stopped and if anything could go wrong or break down then it did, the team withstood everything that could be thrown at them and battled on. Robert Jones had a relay team collecting and drying clothes on a recycling basis and a neighbouring farmer "Hugh" had all the local contacts and ability to give the lads a helping hand, "Thanks Hugh".
Britmet Tileform Ltd supplied the roofing system of the cabin and the RA team fitted the system within two days. The following months continued to punish the area in terms of bad weather until the following summer, when the magnificent landscaping took place. As you can see it all turned out very well in the end.
Mr Robert Jones recently stated that the cabin had been a huge success and has added value to the enjoyment of his parties at the Three Valleys Shoot.
